Perform duties to plan and implement counseling processes to aid individuals, groups of clients and families dealing with substance abuse problems, providing services under parameters of designated program and within prescribed setting, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
1. Perform psychosocial assessments through interview of clients, family and others
and review of records. Participate in staffings to confer with others and evaluate
condition of client. Develop plan for treatment and rehabilitation of client.
2. Counsel clients individually and in group sessions to assist them with chemical
dependency recovery program and in modifying behavior. Counsel client family
members to assist them with dealing with and providing support for the client.
Refer clients or families to other support services as appropriate and within the
parameters of designated program, such as medical evaluation and treatment,
social services and employment services and prepare and maintain required
documentation for chain of custody.
3. Monitor condition of client to evaluate success of therapy, track progress and
adapt treatment plans as required. Determine the requirements for urine test to

4. Complete required forms and make all necessary documentation to client files
relating to all counseling content, observations, activities and issues relating to
each client contacted. Prepare periodic and special reports relating to work

required. Assist with program planning and development of curriculum and work
within program curriculum. Perform crisis interventions as required.
6. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adheres to
Agency policies and procedures.

Requires Master's Degree or equivalent in Social or Behavioral Science. Emphasis on
assessment, treatment planning, individual, group and family counseling as well as
documentation. Minimum 1 year related work experience. Requires valid State of
Florida Driver's License and State required insurance.
FULLY FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Requires complete understanding addiction behavior and related social, psychological,
health issues and related counseling techniques and practices. Requires complete
knowledge of the organizations related programs, practices and policies as well as rules
of documentation and confidentiality. Requires the ability to read, analyze and interpret
written information including regulations and effectively communicate verbally and in
writing where information includes precise data and terminology, possibly of a
confidential nature. Further requires the equivalent of a full four year college level
degree program with at least twenty credit hours of study in the field of counseling and
addictions in an accredited college or university program. Requires the equivalent of a
CAP certification involving specifically related work experience of at least three years
with at least two months of that experience performed under the direction of an individual
possessing a CAP designation or a Master's Degree in a social or behavioral science from
an accredited college or university, where the supervised practical experience and
training includes experience in client screening, intake, assessment, treatment planning,
orientation and evaluation, individual, group and family counseling, crisis intervention,
referral, consultation, outreach client follow-up, reporting and record keeping, written
communications, case review and evaluation, client and community education and case
management. Requires the successful completion of testing in the fields of assessment,
counseling, case Management, education and professional responsibility. Requires valid State
of Florida Driver's license and State required insurance.
