Perform duties to care for substance exposed children who are at risk, providing services under parameters of designated program and within prescribed setting, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
1. Assist Therapeutic Teacher and engage children in specific activities designed to
aid proper development. Design and implement routine activities in day care
center. Observe behaviors and physical condition of children and provide written
documentation regarding specific progress and occurrences. Meet with Case
Managers and other program officials to review and communicate progress.
2. Serve meals and snacks to children and feed infants or monitor others while they
eat. Provide appropriate area for rest periods and observe children as they nap.
3. Complete required forms and make all necessary documentation of unusual
occurrences, observations, activities and issues relating to each child contacted.
Prepare periodic and special reports relating to work activities and project
4. Monitor and report the need for supplies for day care programs. Shop for food
and supplies as required and prepare related reports and receipts. Record and
report on food consumed by children. Prepare menus as required. Assist to plan
field trips and provide client transportation as required.
5. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adheres to
Agency policies and procedures.

integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and

3. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition. Ensure safe operating
conditions within area of responsibility. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requires the equivalent of a basic high school education and specific field training related to early childhood development, a Four C certificate or certification as a Child Development Associate, involving a two hundred hour training program.
FULLY FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires understanding of early childhood development, substance exposure related behaviors and social, psychological, health issues and associated educational and intervention techniques and practices. Requires knowledge of the organizations related programs, practices and policies as well as rules of documentation and confidentiality. Requires the ability to read, analyze and interpret written information including regulations and effectively communicate verbally and in writing where information includes precise data and terminology, possibly of a confidential nature. Further requires the equivalent of a basic high school education and specific field training related to early childhood development, a Four C certificate or certification as a Child Development Associate, involving a two hundred hour training program. Additionally requires over one year of experience as a day care worker in a program for young children. Requires valid State of Florida Driver's license and State required insurance.
